Many of you have experienced the bachata moderna style already. Many people are doing the crosses on 1, on 2 and on 3 on the dance floor! We have gotten plenty of people asking us to teach more bachata moderna style workshops, so here’s your chance!
Bachata Moderna is a combination of various dance styles into the traditional bachata step. Bachata Moderna is best danced to Urban Latin Bachata music, like 4Ever, Mojito Project, Opalo, Toque D Keda, etc.

Viva Magazine is organizing the 1st Annual Bachata Championship
(for non Professional dancers*) to be held at the Salsa Extravaganza event on
Saturday 25th October 2008

The objective of this Bachata Competition is to see which couple can best interpret the character of Bachata music and dance regardless of whatever tricks or moves they do. In other words, it\’s not the tricks that are important but making them a part of your routine and what Bachata represents.
Championship will consist of one pre-selection heats held in the third week of October and the grand final to be held on the 25th of October 2008 at Petersham RSL.

Workshop – Beginners Bachata and Body Movement

If you want to learn bachata or you already have experience dancing it but want to improve your body movement and body isolations, this workshop is for u! We will focus on the bachata step, Dominican style and Modern style, as well as concentrating on stationary bachata and leading with body movements.

Bachateros Do Australia Tour, the story

The idea of organizing a Bachata Tour in Australia was formed in our minds one particular day in Johor Bahru whilst admiring the beautiful beaches and enjoying the tropical atmosphere of the Malaysia Salsa Festival 08. The Bachateros crew got together under the shade of one the many Palm trees (oh the hard life of a Bachatero!) and brainstormed finally coming up with a tour idea to promote Bachata across Australia as well as increase the Bachata community, its culture and to make it a familiar dance not only in Sydney but in other states and cities in the country. Cultural understanding or the rise of a new culture?

Musical genres tend to suggest tangible definitions of theory and practice. However whether people actually understand these is another question. To an untrained musician, classical music may typically be thought to be synonymous to Mozart, Bach, Beethoven or any of the great composers. While for others, classical music may be in reference to anything that is orchestral or which falls under ‘art’ music. In contrast, classical music for those who frequently listen, perform or teach it would say that it is post-Baroque and pre-Romantic, covering a time frame of compositions between 1750-1830[1].
