Greg for one thing i have to agree with juan performers are not the best dancer, as a matter of fact they not even good dancers, they are pretty dancers. And you are right if is a social conpeition they should not dance with their regular partner that is call cheatting.

Greg, I would like to agree with you, but this is not the case. The best example is the Zouk series. We had a couple, who were not instructors, that decided to enter to competition. They ended up 2nd in the overall competition!

The focus of this competition is to find the dancers that have more "sabor". We are not even judging in "difficulty". I can point out various instructors that don't have "sabor" at all. They know the steps and the technique, but lack the feeling of the music.

The grading criteria for this competition is different from all other competition as we are looking for the best social dancer
- Musicality 30%
- Partner connection 20%
- Timing 20%
- Enjoyment 10%
- Presentation 10%
- Technique 10%

I bet you, for the Salsa series, we are going to see the people that have the real sabor, regardless if they are instructors or not.

See ya on wednesday!

It is a little unfair how professional dancers are competing in the "Best Social Dancer" competition. They dance with their partners for a living so obviously they will have a better connection as compared to people who don't do it on a regular basis.
